Overview
Buckskin has a strong sense of community. Residents have told us they value local connections, the Ridgeway Centre, Buckskin Evangelical Church, Chiltern Primary School and nearby green spaces. People also value being close to parks, countryside and routes towards Manydown and Kempshott. Residents and the community have also told us what could be better. Some homes are hard to maintain or expensive to heat. Some routes and public spaces do not always feel safe or well cared for. Residents have also said they would like better access to local services, including healthcare, and more places to sit, play, relax and enjoy nature.
What could change in Buckskin
For Buckskin, the focus is on building on what is already strong: community, green space and local connections. Future ideas could include warmer and more energy-efficient homes, safer and clearer streets, better links across Buckskin Lane, greener routes, improved parking, support for local shops and services, and infrastructure that could help with flood risk and create more space for wildlife, learning and play. We know that talking about changes to homes can feel worrying. Any future plans would need to recognise how much people value their homes, gardens, routines and neighbours. Residents would be kept informed, involved and supported before any decisions are made.

The shared principles have been created with Community Co-Design Associates to help keep future ideas focused on everyday life. That means thinking about homes that work for different needs, streets that feel safe and easy to use, green spaces for people and nature, local shops that feel cared for, and community spaces where people feel welcome.
